Solar Project Results

In this page we present the quantitative results of every
project that has been sponsored by Ecoconomist

About our project results

Together with FundaMaya, Ecoconomist distributes solar panel kits to communities in rural Guatemala.  Each kit consists of an 8 watt solar panel, which is linked to four 2-Watt light bulbs, and a USB power outlet, allowing families to light up four sections of their house, by night, using only the energy collected by the solar panel during the day, from the sun.  It also comes with included with a USB charging station, which allows families to charge their phones totally free of cost.

As it is explained in the different campaigns of the page, we offer the opportunity to help another family in Guatemala produce light for their homes thanks to your help.

The graphs below show the amount of energy which have been produced since 2022.  Although it is only 9 personal solar panels so far, we hope to be able to keep helping communities in Guatemala with solar powered energy.  The data in these graphs are produced using feed from tables which have been meticulously calculated to give us an approximation of how much energy production as well as financial savings are being made by these families thanks to our donors’ contributions.  The financial savings have been calculated given the Guatemalan electricity costs, which include a fixed monthly cost of 31 quetzales which are charged by the Guatemalan electricity distributing company, EEGSA, to simply include a family onto their electrical grid, which many of these households are currently not.

1.2 – Energy and savings made by each Panel individually

The graphs above show the energy produced by each individual panel.  This is the reason why the ones which were installed first, panels 1 and 2, have produced so much more energy than the other ones which have only been recently installed.  Proportional to the energy created thanks to the solar panel systems are the potential saving on electric bills made by the families who have already been provided with a solar panel system.

Project Results

Currently we have nine solar panels installed in Panajachel, Guatemala, benefiting nine families and generating more than 4.14 kWh per month and saving the benefited over 436 dollars in total so far in energy bills.
