About our project results

Ecoconomist bring simple, life-changing solar kits to families in the rural communities of Guatemala. Each kit includes an 8-watt solar panel, four energy-efficient LED light bulbs, and a USB power outlet, allowing households to safely light multiple areas of their home at night using only energy captured from the sun during the day. The system also includes a USB charging station, enabling families to charge mobile phones at no ongoing cost — reducing reliance on candles, batteries, or expensive charging services.

Many of the families benefiting from these solar kits have children who are currently supported by FundaMaya donors to attend school. Access to reliable lighting extends study hours after dark, improves household safety, and reduces recurring energy expenses, helping families direct more of their limited resources toward education and basic needs. Below, you can find information on the outcomes of similar solar projects that have already been funded, demonstrating the tangible impact your support can help achieve.

The Solar Panel Results Report shows

The graphs above were created using Looker studio and they represent the energy which have already been produced by each individual solar panel plus the money saved by families who have already been provided with a solar panel system.  The graph below shows the accumulated energy saved in total since 2022. This data is based on tables which have been meticulously calculated to give us an approximation of how much energy production as well as financial savings are being made by these families thanks to your contributions.  The financial savings have been calculated given the Guatemalan electricity costs, which include a fixed monthly cost of 31 quetzales which are charged by the Guatemalan electricity distributing company, EEGSA, to simply include a family onto their electrical grid, which many of these households are currently not.

Project Results

Currently we have nine solar panels installed in Panajachel, Guatemala, benefiting nine families and generating more than 4.14 kWh per month and saving the benefited over 436 dollars in total so far in energy bills.
